Also, hier nochmal zusammengefasst: HP will sein Kerngeschäft, der Handel mit Computern, verkaufen.. Stattdessen wollen sie in Cloud Computing und Software investieren.
Dabei gibt sich HP auch im Tablett- und Smartphonebereich geschlagen, obwohl sie noch nicht mal alle Geräte, die sie angekündigt hatten auf den Markt gebracht haben. Damit sieht auch die Zukunft von webOS dementsprechend düster aus. Obwohl sie bis vor kurzem ja immer was anderes behauptet hatten, werden sie sich aus dem Smartphonebereich zurückziehen:

Auf Deutsch:
Damit dieses Investment ein finanzieller Erfolg wird, müsste man sehr viel Kapital über die nächsten ein bis zwei Jahre aufwenden, was ein Risiko erzeugt, ohne dass der Erfolg klar ist. Deshalb haben wir beschlossen, alles rund um webOS abzuschließen und werden strategische Alternativen suchen, um den Wert der Softwareplattform zu optimieren und ihre Leistungsfähigkeit weiterzuentwickeln.
Das heißt, es gibt quasi nur 3 Alternativen (vgl. auch Precentral):
- HP verfährt ähnlich wie Google ( seit neuestem ja nichtmehr ) und lizensiert webOS für andere Hersteller, wie HTC
- HP verkauft seine gerade erst für 1.2 Millarden Dollar erworbene Handysparte von Palm
- Sie lassen es einfach sterben.

Ich würde sagen, jetzt ist meine Lieblings-Smartphoneplattform entgültig tot. Vieleicht sollte ich demnächst die “webOS” Kategorie in “Android” umbenennen … Auch wenn’s für mich natürlich Sch….ade ist, wird es wohl eher unwarscheinlich sein, dass das nochmal was wird.

Es gibt neues, und zwar eine Mail vom Developer Center:
